UGC develops web-based exams

New Delhi: Cashing in on the benefits of internet, the University Grants Commission has developed an
e-module through which students can watch and listen to lecturers by experts on various subjects, and appear
for web-based tests from the comforts of their home.
Programmes of India's Vyas channel, dedicated to education and managed by Consortium for Educational Communication (CEC), an inter-university centre of UGC, is now available on its website
www.cec-ugc.org
"We have now developed an e-content module which presents the lectures in a systematics manner. We are coverting our earlier programmes to this form. In addition, the new programmes are being prepared in module," CEC director
prof G D Sharma siad.
The module has options like discussion, quiz, assignment, feedback among a host of other related topics.
"This gives much flexibity during learning. The student can learn as per his convenience and there is scope for their
participation also," he siad. CEC has a target to convert all 15,000 programmes into the e-content module apart
from preparing about 1000 new programmes this year.
CEC has prepared a "learning objective repository" which comprises important questions and answers on various subjects.
